Our previous Minister, the Rev'd Helen Higgin Botham, retired at the end of October.
From 1st November the Rev'd Andrew Reed is the Minister at Christ Church.
Hello, my name is Andrew. In November 2025 I became the Minister at Christ Church, Chichester. I am looking forward to being with you and to getting to know the folk at the Church as well as people in the community and in other Churches in the area.
I became a Probationer Methodist Minister in 2008, when I was stationed at Lancing and Shoreham Methodist Churches. I lived in Lancing with my wife and the Foster Children, who were with us at that time. I left the coast in 2017 to work in south London as the Superintendent Minister in the Staines and Feltham Circuit, where I had responsibility for a number of churches. Our role as Foster Carers continued.
Although it had been my intention to retire in 2025, I was asked if I would be able to take on a part time role (49%) here at Christ Church in Chichester. We prayed about this and believe that this is an opportunity to continue serving God in an LEP. The fact is that I was the Minister in a Methodist/URC LEP at Egham. I enjoyed working with both denominations and have learnt so much from the people I have met about how the two Churches can work together in a constructive way. I hope to bring some of that experience with me to this post.
I believe that our aim is to be a welcoming place for all who are exploring the impact that the Christian faith and knowing Jesus can have on us- both as individuals and as a Church.
Specifically, my task at Christ Church is to work collaboratively as a member of the Circuit which includes:
attendance at Circuit Meetings, URC Synod, Circuit Leadership and staff Meetings;
chairing Leadership Team Meetings, Church Meetings, and meetings of Trustees and Elders at Christ Church;
working in partnership with Church Steward, Lay Workers and Pastoral Contacts;
attending and supporting social and fellowship events as time allows.
